Does this sound shady to you?

Been dating this guy for about 3 weeks and we are both in our early 40s. I had made plans with him to have him over to my place and watch a movie Saturday. Well friday when I called to confirm our plans he told me he had "forgotten" he had dinner plans with a "friend". He never told me if this "friend" was female or male just that he was invited along with his young daughter. I feel since we have only been dating 3 weeks I did not have the right to ask to come along or question this. He told me he would stop over after dinner around 9pm. I tryed to call him at 8:30 but got his VM. Well turns out this friend and him after dinner went to see fireworks too. He never called me till 11:30pm and told me he just dropped his daughter off at her moms house and was on his way over! He got to my place around midnight to late for the movie but in time for a call..How would you handle this???
