What is the name of the political satire event done by slaves of the caribbean during carnaval?

I have been told this is a very old tradition from the sugar plantations of the caribbean islands. The slaves would use this oppourtunity to poke fun or make demands of their owners under the guise of comedy. It continues today as a means of bringing attention to social and political current events during Carnaval week.
