What can happen to a teacher who tracks their students IP address?

My son sent an anonymous email to the administrators about a problematic teacher. She then was approached by them and took it upon herself to find out who sent it. She went to the media technician of the school or the district and tracked my home internet IP address. She then sent him an email on his personal account from her personal account explaining what she did and so on. Can there be any consequences from those actions? Thanks.
