Hey Guys, what do you think of the start of a new book I am writing? Thoughts please?

I'm a dude and I'd stop, but a girl would probably keep reading. It sounds decent so far, I'd like to hear the synopsis, but that's probably a bad idea on here, as someone could easily steal a great idea. I also do not enjoy the way you are narrating it in present tense, I find that a little annoying, but that is just a personal pet peeve.
