Have a blister on my finger its painful swollen & red round the edge.is it infected&how do i treat it?

i got it from making hemp jewlery which is a type of rope. its so painful that i can hardly bend my finger without the pain getting worse its hot to the touch. the blister is the size of a pea but its between the first two joints of my index finger, making it hard to keep it bandaged. oh and it didnt start getting painful untill i tryed to pop it without knowing the correct way to do so. now there is a small puncture in the top of it that has clear fluid leaking from it . should i be worried?
